There was a whole series of these figures on display at the Musée d'Orsay, and I mean enough to create a whole world, including scenery and characters. Apparently they used to be part of the entertainment at the Moulin Rouge and other Parisian cabarets at the turn of the 20th century - shadow puppet theatre!

I can only imagine what these brave lads were doing there... :D
